Excel, TMP files and Thumbdrives I have used a thumbdrive for my daily excel sheet working for a several months now. I normally open a file and work on it during the day and save it spasmodically during the day. I also move the thumbdrive between computers, copying other files etc.
First, if you find a .tmp file that resembles a recognizable time-stamp (for me, I saw that a .tmp file was modified at 2:56 am which was right before word crashed, so this signaled to me that this is probably the file I was looking for), make a copy of it on your desktop. Next, open that copied document in Text Edit.
